Yung Gravy

Yung Gravy was publicly linked to social media personality Sheri Easterling in 2022, including a joint appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. He was also romantically linked to Ari Kytsya in early 2025.

He has been described as single and has no children.

Yung Gravy was born Matthew Raymond Hauri in Rochester, Minnesota. His father, Peter Johannes Hauri, was a Swiss-born psychologist who specialized in treating insomnia, and his mother, Cynthia Cleveland Hauri, is a psychiatrist. He lost his father when he was 16.

He graduated from Mayo High School in 2014 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a marketing degree in December 2017. While in college, he developed branding strategies for startup companies and started several businesses of his own.

Yung Gravy began releasing music on SoundCloud in 2016 while attending college. He gained recognition in 2017 with "Mr. Clean" and "1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot," both of which later received platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. He quit his other jobs that year and devoted himself to making music.

His albums include Sensational, Baby Gravy 2, Gasanova, Marvelous, Baby Gravy 3, and Serving Country. His collaborative releases with Canadian rapper bbno$ include Baby Gravy 2 and Baby Gravy 3, as well as the Baby Gravy extended play. Other collaborators have included Lil Baby, Juicy J, T-Pain, Dillon Francis, Lil Wayne, Shania Twain, and Martha Stewart.

The 2022 single "Betty (Get Money)" became Yung Gravy's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 30. The track received platinum certifications in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand, and a triple-platinum certification in Australia.

Yung Gravy's music combines trap with themes drawn from soul and funk recordings of the 1950s through the 1980s. His breakout song "Mr. Clean" samples the Chordettes' 1954 song "Mr. Sandman," while "Gravy Train" samples Maxine Nightingale's 1976 recording "Right Back Where We Started From."

His lyrics are known for humorous references to cooking and older women, while his musical influences include Outkast, Three 6 Mafia, Smokey Robinson, and the Blackbyrds. He is often associated with the SoundCloud rap era.

In April 2021, the Tampa Bay Lightning honored Yung Gravy by inscribing the title of his song "Gravy Train" on the team's 2020 Stanley Cup rings after using the track as a post-game victory song.

He performed at the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots Thanksgiving Day game in 2022, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and the MTV Video Music Awards Pre-Show, and performed at the X Games in Aspen in 2023. During the X Games, he participated in the Special Olympics Unified Skiing competition and raced against professional freeskier Tom Wallisch.

Yung Gravy provided the voice of Golem in the 2025 video game Dispatch.
