Zach Wilson

Wilson has been married to Nicolette Dellanno since June 28, 2025. He was born to Michael and Lisa Wilson and has three brothers and two sisters, including quarterback Isaac Wilson. His father played defensive tackle at Utah, while his brothers Josh and Micah played linebacker at BYU.

Wilson is of part-Hawaiian ancestry on his father's side, and his middle name, Kapono, means "righteous" in Hawaiian. He was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as a child and has described himself as a spiritual person. He has also been friends with former BYU teammate Dax Milne since childhood.

Wilson played college football for the BYU Cougars from 2018 through 2020. As a true freshman, he became the youngest quarterback to start a game for BYU. He was named the MVP of the 2018 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl after completing all 18 of his passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-18 victory over Western Michigan.

Wilson's junior season in 2020 established him as a leading NFL prospect. He completed 73.5 percent of his passes for 3,692 yards, 33 touchdowns, and three interceptions, while adding 255 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. He set a BYU single-season completion-percentage record previously held by Steve Young, led the Cougars to an 11-1 record, finished eighth in Heisman Trophy voting, and shared the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award with USC safety Talanoa Hufanga.

Across three seasons, Wilson played in 30 games with 28 starts and completed 566 of 837 passes for 7,652 yards and 56 touchdowns. He also rushed for 642 yards and 15 touchdowns. He declared early for the NFL Draft after the 2020 season.

The New York Jets selected Wilson second overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was the second quarterback chosen and became the highest-ever draft pick from BYU. Wilson started 13 games as a rookie, recording 2,334 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He earned his first NFL victory against the Tennessee Titans and later produced a 52-yard touchdown run against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the longest run by a Jets quarterback in franchise history.

Wilson's second season included a knee injury, a four-game winning streak by the Jets, and an upset victory over the Buffalo Bills. He was later demoted on the depth chart and did not finish the season as the team's starter. He returned to the lineup during the 2022 season when Mike White was injured, but was benched during a loss to Jacksonville.

After Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury on the opening drive of the 2023 season, Wilson returned to the starting role. He helped the Jets defeat the Philadelphia Eagles and produced a career-best game against the Houston Texans in December, completing 27 of 36 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns. He received the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award for that performance, but a concussion ended his season and his time with the Jets.

The Broncos acquired Wilson from the Jets in April 2024. Denver listed him as its third-string quarterback behind Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham, and he did not appear in a regular-season or playoff game for the team.

Wilson joined the Miami Dolphins in 2025 and appeared in four games. He completed six of 11 passes for 32 yards. In March 2026, he signed with the New Orleans Saints, continuing his NFL career as a quarterback and competing for a backup role.
