Anthony Richardson

Richardson is engaged to Jada, and they have a son.

Richardson attended the Professional Academies Magnet at Loften High School, where he studied fire, emergency medical services and public safety. Because Loften did not have an athletic program, he competed in football at Eastside High School in Gainesville. As Eastside's quarterback, he recorded 4,633 passing yards, 37 passing touchdowns, 1,633 rushing yards and 41 rushing touchdowns. He also played basketball and averaged 10.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a junior. His senior season was featured on the Netflix series QB1: Beyond The Lights.

Richardson began his college career with the Florida Gators in 2020 and redshirted as a true freshman after appearing in four games. He became a bigger part of the offense in 2021, when he earned All-Freshman Team honors and replaced Emory Jones during Florida's game against LSU. Richardson completed 10 of 19 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns in that game, adding a rushing touchdown. He was teammates with wide receiver Kadarius Toney at Florida in 2020.

Richardson became Florida's starting quarterback in 2022. In the season opener, he helped the Gators defeat seventh-ranked Utah 29-26, completing 17 of 24 passes for 168 yards and rushing for 106 yards and three touchdowns. He received SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Davey O'Brien Award Quarterback of the Week honors for the performance.

Against Tennessee, Richardson produced 515 total yards, including 453 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, along with 62 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He finished the season with 2,549 passing yards, 17 passing touchdowns, nine interceptions, 654 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. After the season, he entered the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Indianapolis Colts selected Richardson fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Head coach Shane Steichen named him the team's starting quarterback over Gardner Minshew and Sam Ehlinger before the 2023 regular season. Richardson made his NFL debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars, throwing a touchdown pass to Michael Pittman Jr. and rushing for a touchdown.

In his first three starts, Richardson became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to score a rushing touchdown in each game. He also became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to record four rushing touchdowns in his first three games. A grade three AC joint sprain ended his 2023 season after four starts, and he underwent shoulder surgery to repair the injury.

Richardson returned as the Colts' starter in 2024. He missed two games with an oblique injury and later missed the final two games with a back injury. After a brief benching in favor of Joe Flacco, he returned to the starting lineup in Week 11 and led Indianapolis to a 28-27 win over the New York Jets, completing 67 percent of his passes for a career-high 272 yards while adding two rushing touchdowns. He finished the 2024 season with 1,814 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 499 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.

Richardson opened the 2025 offseason in competition with Daniel Jones for the Colts' starting quarterback position. Jones was named the starter, leaving Richardson as a backup to begin his third NFL season. Richardson later suffered an orbital fracture during pregame warmups and was placed on injured reserve.

The injury followed a 2024 season in which Richardson's rushing ability remained a major part of his game. In that season, he set Colts quarterback single-season records for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, according to the team.
