De'Aaron Fox

Fox was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Aaron and Lorraine Harris-Fox, and grew up with his brother, Quentin. During his childhood, he earned the nicknames "Swipa" and "Swipa da Fox," inspired by the character Swiper from Dora the Explorer as well as his quick hands on the basketball court. His mother played collegiate basketball at Arkansas-Little Rock.

In August 2022, Fox married former collegiate basketball player Recee Caldwell in Malibu, California. The couple welcomed their son, Reign Fox, on February 3, 2023. Outside of basketball, Fox is an avid fan of the anime series Dragon Ball Z and a dedicated gamer.

Fox attended Cypress Lakes High School in Cypress, Texas, where he emerged as one of the top recruits in the country. As a senior, he averaged 32.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, leading Cypress Lakes to a regional final appearance. In 2016, he earned McDonald's All-American honors and was named co-MVP of the Jordan Brand Classic alongside his future Kentucky teammate Malik Monk.

Fox committed to the University of Kentucky to play under head coach John Calipari for the 2016-17 season. In November 2016, Fox recorded the second triple-double in Kentucky program history against Arizona State, tallying 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. He led the Wildcats to the SEC tournament title, earning tournament MVP honors. In the 2017 NCAA tournament Sweet 16, Fox scored a freshman tournament-record 39 points in a victory over UCLA. Following his freshman campaign, Fox declared for the NBA draft.

The Sacramento Kings selected Fox with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He quickly became the centerpiece of the team's backcourt, finishing second in voting for the NBA Most Improved Player Award in his second season after raising his scoring average to 17.3 points per game. In November 2020, Fox signed a long-term contract extension with Sacramento.

Fox enjoyed a career milestone season in 2022-23, leading the Kings to their first playoff appearance in 16 seasons. He earned his first NBA All-Star selection, made the All-NBA Third Team, and was voted the inaugural winner of the NBA Clutch Player of the Year Award. In his playoff debut against the Golden State Warriors, he scored 38 points. During the 2023-24 season, Fox led the NBA in steals per game. On November 15, 2024, Fox scored a franchise-record 60 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves, followed by a 49-point performance the next night against the Utah Jazz.

On February 3, 2025, Fox was traded to the San Antonio Spurs as part of a three-team trade involving the Kings and the Chicago Bulls. In his Spurs debut on February 5, Fox recorded 24 points and 13 assists against the Atlanta Hawks, becoming the first player in franchise history to record at least 20 points and 10 assists in his team debut.

Fox signed a maximum contract extension with San Antonio in August 2025. He went on to earn his second career NBA All-Star selection in 2026 as an injury replacement and helped lead the Spurs to an appearance in the 2026 NBA Finals.
