
Eduardo Franco is an American actor and comedian from Yuma, Arizona. He gained international recognition as Argyle, the van-driving confidant to Jonathan Byers in the fourth season of the Netflix series Stranger Things. Before entering the sci-fi franchise, Franco established himself in feature comedies, playing Theo in Olivia Wilde's acclaimed high school film Booksmart, Spencer Diaz in the mockumentary series American Vandal, and Jeremy in The Package. He also headlined the Hulu comedies The Binge and It's a Wonderful Binge. In animation, Franco provides the voice of DJ Catnip on Gabby's Dollhouse and has voiced characters in films such as Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, Koati, and Hoppers. Upbringing in Yuma
Franco grew up in Yuma, Arizona. He was raised in a working-class household by Mexican parents alongside five siblings.
His long hair later became a defining feature in auditions and screen roles.
Early television and film comedy
Franco started working on television in 2015. He booked a recurring role as Stu in Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything, appearing in seven episodes through 2017. Guest roles followed in series such as You're the Worst, Idiotsitter, and Adam Ruins Everything. He also filmed national commercials for brands including GEICO, Samsung, and TurboTax.
In 2017, he played Spencer Diaz in the first season of the Netflix mockumentary American Vandal. The next year brought a lead film part as Jeremy Abelar in the comedy The Package.
In 2019, Franco appeared as Theo in Olivia Wilde's directorial debut Booksmart. The role had been written for his comedic style. In 2020, he starred as Andrew in the Hulu comedy feature The Binge alongside Vince Vaughn, later reprising the character in the 2022 sequel It's a Wonderful Binge. Franco also formed the musical duo Dumb Bitches w/ Internet with collaborator Noetic Nixon.
Stranger Things and voice work
Franco joined the cast of Stranger Things for its fourth season in 2022. He originally auditioned for Eddie Munson before producers cast him as Argyle, Jonathan Byers's laid-back, pizza-delivering friend in California. The part brought him mainstream recognition. When production prepared for the fifth season, Franco confirmed he had not received a call to return.
Franco also works regularly in animation. He began voicing DJ Catnip in the preschool animated series Gabby's Dollhouse in 2021, performing songs on the soundtrack and reprising the role in Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie. Other voice credits include Pako in Koati, Trevin in Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, Loaf in Hoppers, and Daryl in Goat.
