FaZe Rug

Brian Rafat Awadis was born on November 19, 1996, in San Diego, California, to immigrant Chaldo-Assyrian parents from Tel Keppe, Iraq. His parents, Ron and Sana Awadis, frequently appear across his channel under the monikers Papa Rug and Mama Rug. He grew up alongside his older brother, Brandon Awadis, who also established a major online following as a content creator under the name Brawadis.

Awadis attended Mira Mesa Senior High School in San Diego, where he took an interest in video games and mischief after failing to make the high school basketball team. He later enrolled at San Diego Miramar College but chose to drop out during his freshman year once his online viewership began generating consistent momentum. Beyond English, Awadis speaks Arabic and the Suret language.

Awadis entered online video production in October 2008 when he and his brother launched a shared channel named fathersonchaldean, posting skits centered on Chaldean family dynamics. He later created his own dedicated channel in July 2012, uploading short gameplay clips focused on the Call of Duty series under handles such as oRugrat and SoaR Rug before adopting the FaZe Rug identity.

His channel pivoted toward real-life entertainment in late 2014 when he began uploading prank videos, starting with a staged smoking prank involving his mother. He achieved major viral recognition with elaborate home pranks, challenges, and reaction videos, which quickly accelerated his subscriber growth. Awadis reached one million YouTube subscribers in October 2015 and surpassed ten million by September 2018, establishing his vlog and prank uploads as the core drivers of his audience.

Awadis was invited to join FaZe Clan in January 2013, eventually becoming a director and co-owner after the organization distributed company equity among its most prominent members. Over his thirteen years with the collective, he represented the group in various collaborative initiatives, including membership in the internet collective CloutGang.

Outside of his primary YouTube channel, Awadis diversified into music, acting, and entrepreneurship. In November 2019, he released the single "Goin' Live," followed by a guest appearance on season 17 of MTV's Ridiculousness in June 2020. That same year, he starred as himself in the feature-length horror film Crimson, and in 2021 he served as host of the YouTube original series #1 Chicken. In 2023, Awadis co-founded 1UP Candy, a confectionery brand focusing on freeze-dried sweets, and in 2024 he was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Games category. In December 2025, he announced his departure from FaZe Clan to pursue independent content creation while continuing to use his established online name.
