Flowerovlove

Joyce Cissé grew up in South London and Essex with her Ivorian parents. Her family spoke Mandinka at home. She began experimenting with music around the age of six, jotting down song concepts in a notebook her aunt gave her. Music was everywhere in the house. Her mother played records by ABBA and Boney M, while Cissé discovered artists like Frank Ocean, One Direction, and Tame Impala.

She recorded her first track at thirteen in her older brother Wilfred's bedroom. He made beats on his computer while she sat on the bed writing vocal lines. The dynamic worked. When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in 2020, she decided to turn the bedroom hobby into a professional pursuit while continuing her studies in English, French, and history at sixth-form college.

In August 2020, Cissé debuted under the name Flowerovlove with the single "Kiss & Chase". She followed it with "Unseen Miracles" and "Fat Wave". Her debut EP, Think Flower, arrived in May 2021. Produced with input from her brother Wilfred and collaborator Isaac Levine, the project centred on environmental care and self-acceptance. The release caught the attention of manager Jesse Dickson at FAE Group, who signed her shortly after.

Her single "Malibu" earned more than three million streams later that summer. In early 2022, she released "I Love This Song". The track soundtracked the launch campaign for Hailey Bieber's Rhode skincare brand. Its music video received a nomination at the 2022 UK Music Video Awards for Best Pop Video Newcomer.

Her second EP, A Mosh Pit in the Clouds, landed in November 2022. It featured contributions from the Invisible Men and Dan Smith. That autumn, she performed "I Gotta I Gotta" on the BBC children's programme Blue Peter and toured as the opening act for Role Model on his TourX run.

Cissé signed with Capitol Records on her eighteenth birthday in February 2023. That year, she embarked on her first headline dates and performed at festivals including Primavera Sound, Latitude, and TRNSMT. Her single "Love You" was selected for the third season of the Netflix series Heartstopper. Another track, "a girl like me", found a following on social media for its inclusive lyrics.

Live stages grew larger in 2024. She played the Park Stage at Glastonbury and appeared at Kendal Calling and Tramlines. In October 2024, Capitol released her third EP, Ache in My Tooth. The record explored different aspects of romantic attraction across tracks like "breaking news" and "erase u", written alongside songwriters Amy Allen and Skyler Stonestreet.

Parallel to her music, Cissé built a career in fashion. She entered the industry after being scouted at a party in Paris. Soon after, she walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week for the label Xuly Bët.

She quickly drew interest from global fashion houses. She appeared in advertising campaigns for Gucci, Swarovski, Maison Kitsuné, and Pangaia. In September 2023, Mulberry invited her to perform at a London event. She has cited Grace Jones as a principal stylistic reference.
