Hanna Battah

Hanna Battah is the daughter of Debra, who works in the medical field. Her father taught political science at Minnesota State University, an influence connected to Battah's interest in current events and politics.

She grew up with three sisters, Anisa, Nadia and Leena. Two of her sisters are nurses. Battah is also an avid swimmer and runner and a fan of the Minnesota Vikings.

Battah studied broadcast journalism and political science at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism. While in college, she worked at the campus television station MUTV, where she covered sports. Her first story was about the Mizzou volleyball team and its newest players.

Her first job was as a barista at Caribou Coffee in Minnesota. Her early journalism experience included an internship in the news department of WCCO in Minneapolis, work with Missouri Digital News in Jefferson City and a Meredith-Cronkite Fellowship at KPHO in Phoenix.

She began her television career as an anchor and multimedia journalist at KOMU-TV, an NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. She also reported on state politics in Jefferson City for radio outlets in St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield.

In 2015, Battah joined KBAK-TV and KBFX-TV in Bakersfield, California, where she co-anchored noon newscasts and reported for evening newscasts. Her reporting included coverage from the West Coast and the U.S. southern border.

She joined KDFW-TV's Fox 4 in Dallas in June 2018 as a weekend morning anchor and reporter. She hosted the weekend editions of Good Day and contributed reports to the weekday broadcasts. Within a few months, she joined the weekday team alongside Brandon Todd.

During seven years in Dallas, Battah anchored major breaking news, including the 2024 presidential election results and the central Texas flood disaster. She also anchored KDFW's afternoon and early-evening newscasts and co-anchored The Ten, a largely unscripted program built around live interviews.

Battah covered the 2017 wildfire in California's Ventura and Santa Barbara counties from the front lines. She wore full fire gear while recording the flames and reporting on the work of firefighters.

Her coverage of the Joplin tornado recovery in 2011 earned her the Heart of America Gold Award from the Kansas City Press Club. Other notable assignments included former President Barack Obama's visit to Kansas City and the 2015 World Series.

In 2018, she received a Lone Star Emmy nomination as part of the team recognized for live coverage of a vehicle attack at the station that prompted a bomb squad response.

Battah became a co-anchor of ABC News' World News Now and Good Morning America First Look. She has also appeared as an ABC News correspondent and guest co-host on GMA3, as well as on Good Morning America and its weekend edition.
