Jennifer Lopez was married to Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, and Ben Affleck from 2022 to 2025. Lopez and Affleck first became engaged in 2002 after meeting through Gigli, ended their engagement in 2004, and married in Las Vegas in July 2022 before divorcing in January 2025.

Lopez was married to Marc Anthony for a decade, and they collaborated on music and co-starred in El Cantante (2006). They had fraternal twins in February 2008. Lopez also has two sisters, Leslie and Lynda Lopez, and founded the Lopez Family Foundation with Lynda in 2009 to improve health care access for women and children.

Lopez began her professional career as a dancer, touring with Golden Musicals of Broadway in 1989 and later appearing as a Fly Girl on the sketch comedy series In Living Color from 1991 to 1993. She also danced with New Kids on the Block at the 1991 American Music Awards and worked as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson.

Her early acting roles included South Central, Second Chances, Mi Familia and Jack. Her breakthrough came with Selena (1997), in which she portrayed singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.

She followed Selena with leading roles in Anaconda (1997), Out of Sight (1998) and The Cell (2000). Her performance opposite George Clooney in Out of Sight received strong critical praise and helped establish her as a leading film actress.

Lopez launched her recording career with On the 6 in 1999. Named after the subway line connecting the Bronx with Manhattan, the album produced the number-one single "If You Had My Love" and included "Waiting for Tonight", "Let's Get Loud" and the Marc Anthony duet "No Me Ames". Her second album, J.Lo, arrived in 2001 alongside The Wedding Planner, making Lopez the first woman to have a number-one album and film in the United States at the same time.

Her early-2000s music included J to tha L-O! The Remixes and This Is Me... Then. The remix album became the first remix album to reach number one on the Billboard 200, while This Is Me... Then produced the singles "Jenny from the Block" and "All I Have". She later released the Spanish-language album Como Ama una Mujer (2007), Love? (2011), A.K.A. (2014) and This Is Me... Now (2024).

Lopez joined the judging panel of American Idol in 2011, a role that returned her to widespread prominence. Her album Love? produced "On the Floor", which became the best-selling single of her career. She also judged and executive produced the dance competition series World of Dance from 2017 to 2020.

Lopez starred in romantic comedies including The Wedding Planner, Maid in Manhattan, Shall We Dance?, Monster-in-Law, Marry Me and Shotgun Wedding. She also appeared in the crime drama series Shades of Blue from 2016 to 2018, playing police detective Harlee Santos.

Her performance as a veteran dancer in Hustlers (2019), which she also executive produced, received widespread critical acclaim and nominations for the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, Critics' Choice and Independent Spirit awards. She later led the films The Mother (2023) and Atlas (2024), and received praise for her performance in Unstoppable (2024).

In 2020, Lopez co-headlined the Super Bowl LIV halftime show in Miami with Shakira. She performed at Joe Biden's presidential inauguration in 2021 and has also presented large-scale concert productions, including the Las Vegas residency All I Have and the 2012 Dance Again World Tour.

Lopez's career has been associated with greater visibility for Latino performers in Hollywood and American popular music. Her music combines pop, R&B, hip hop, dance-pop and Latin influences, while her film roles have often explored working-class identity, survival and class consciousness.

Her green Versace dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards became one of the most prominent fashion moments of her career. The public interest surrounding images of the dress helped lead to the creation of Google Images. In 2019, the Council of Fashion Designers of America gave Lopez its Fashion Icon Award.

Lopez has developed fashion, beauty and fragrance brands, including J.Lo by Jennifer Lopez and JLo Beauty. She co-founded Nuyorican Productions with Benny Medina in 2001 and later used the company for film and television projects. Her philanthropic work has included the Lopez Family Foundation, support for Children's Hospital Los Angeles, humanitarian relief for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, and Limitless Labs, an organization supporting Latina entrepreneurs.
