Lola Brooke

Lola Brooke was raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, by her mother, Teesha Thomas. Her father, Dennis Thomas, died when she was young, and she later named her debut album Dennis Daughter in his honor. She began writing music at eight years old and was encouraged by her mother's support for her passion for rap.

Brooke began making music professionally in 2016 with her cousin Jah, who learned to produce beats with Pro Tools. She signed with Team80 Productions that year. Before pursuing music full time, she worked as a residential aide at a shelter, leaving the job in 2017 to focus on her rap career.

Brooke released her first music video, the freestyle "2017 Flow," in January 2017, followed later that year by "Never Was Yours." Her breakout single, "Don't Play with It," arrived in 2021 and gained momentum online the following year. The song became her signature release, later earning a platinum certification and receiving a remix featuring Latto and Yung Miami.

In early 2023, Brooke opened for A Boogie wit da Hoodie on the Me v. Myself Tour. She also released "So Disrespectful," appeared on Ciara's "Da Girls (Girls Mix)" with Lady London, and was selected for the 2023 XXL Freshman Class. Her debut studio album, Dennis Daughter, was released on November 10, 2023, through Arista and Team80.

Brooke's live performances have included Rolling Loud NYC, Break the Internet Fest, Hot 97's "Who's Up Next" showcase, and a halftime appearance for the Brooklyn Nets. She also performed at Future's sold-out Barclays Center show in Brooklyn in 2022.

Brooke performs hip hop rooted in Brooklyn's street-rap tradition. Her music is characterized by a forceful delivery, confident lyrics, and an unpredictable cadence. She refers to herself as Big Gator.

Her influences include Meek Mill, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Foxy Brown, DMX, and Lil' Kim. The stage name Lola Brooke combines Lola Bunny, the Looney Tunes character, with Brooklyn, the borough where she was raised.

Brooke has appeared as Tanya in the television series East New York, including a two-episode appearance in 2023. She also appeared in music videos for her collaborations with Bryson Tiller and Shenseea.

Her recorded collaborations include work with Ciara, Latto, Yung Miami, Bryson Tiller, French Montana, Jeremih, Coi Leray, and Lady London. She received nominations for Best New Artist at the 2023 BET Awards and Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards.
