Momona Tamada

Momona Tamada was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Japanese immigrant parents. Her given name translates to "hundreds of beaches," chosen as an homage to the coastal landscape of her hometown. Fluent in both English and Japanese, she grew up alongside her younger brother, Hiro.

From the age of four, Tamada trained as a competitive dancer. Her background in performance led to appearances with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and a performance at the opening ceremonies of the British Columbia Summer Games. In addition to dance, she trained in martial arts and modeled for commercial fashion campaigns, including work for Celine, Rodarte, and Lululemon's ivivva apparel line. After securing major acting commitments, she transitioned to online schooling to balance her education with production schedules.

Tamada made her professional on-screen debut in 2019, appearing in the first season of the superhero series The Boys as the young version of Kimiko Miyashiro, also known as "The Female." Later that year, she appeared in an episode of the historical horror series The Terror.

Her breakthrough came in 2020 when she was cast as Claudia Kishi in Netflix's television series The Baby-Sitters Club, based on the novel series by Ann M. Martin. A fan of the books as a child, Tamada portrayed the artistic, fashion-focused club vice president across two seasons. Her performance earned critical praise and a nomination for Outstanding Younger Performer at the inaugural Children's & Family Emmy Awards.

Around the same time, Tamada expanded her film resume. She played the younger version of Lana Condor's lead character, Lara Jean Covey, in To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020) and returned for the 2021 sequel To All the Boys: Always and Forever. She also starred as Erica in the 2020 family wrestling comedy The Main Event and played Maya in the 2022 superhero adventure film Secret Headquarters alongside Owen Wilson and Michael Peña.

In 2022, Tamada was cast as the acrobatic Fire Nation character Ty Lee in the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which premiered on Netflix in 2024. Her role was expanded to a main cast position for subsequent seasons of the series.

Alongside live-action roles, Tamada branched into voice acting, leading the 2022 animated limited series ONI: Thunder God's Tale as the voice of Onari, a project that won two Annie Awards. She also provided voice performances for video games, including Assassin's Creed Shadows. Her television credits continued to grow with recurring roles as Emiko in The Spiderwick Chronicles and Eva in Happy Face, followed by her casting as Zara in the Disney franchise film Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story.
