Gordon Cormier

Cormier began performing in an acting, singing, and dancing class at age six. He auditioned for his first television commercial at age nine and subsequently pursued smaller roles while attending Vancouver Young Acting School.

His first credited screen role came in Get Shorty in 2019, where he played Guatemalan Urchin. That year he also appeared in Lost in Space, A Christmas Miracle, and Christmas Under the Stars. His other early television credits include Turner & Hooch, Gabby Duran & The Unsittables, and Two Sentence Horror Stories.

Cormier gained broader attention as Joe in The Stand, the 2020-2021 limited series adapted from Stephen King's novel. Joe was a recurring character who becomes the ward of Nadine Cross, and Cormier appeared in eight episodes.

During the production, Cormier worked alongside Whoopi Goldberg, James Marsden, Jovan Adepo, and Amber Heard. The role marked a major step from his early guest appearances to a recurring part in a high-profile limited series.

In 2021, Cormier was cast as Aang, the central character in Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The role became his largest television part and established him as the lead of the series.

Before the first season premiered, Cormier said that he had watched the original animated series more than 26 times. He also has voice credits in the animated productions Team Zenko Go and Ready Jet Go! Space Camp, in addition to his live-action work.
