Noah Eagle

Growing up in Essex Fells, New Jersey, Noah Eagle planned to follow his father, sportscaster Ian Eagle, into broadcasting. He often shadowed Ian during NBA games and developed an early interest in basketball. By age 13, watching his father's enthusiasm for the profession had shifted Noah's ambitions from becoming a self-described “TV dentist” to pursuing sports media.

Eagle attended West Essex High School and graduated from Syracuse University's S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2019 with a degree in broadcast and digital journalism. At Syracuse, he called Orange basketball, football and lacrosse games on WAER and served as sports director.

Ian Eagle became an important mentor as Noah entered the profession. Noah has described his father as an invaluable guide and the most influential person in his career, while Ian encouraged him but also emphasized the demanding realities of sports broadcasting.

A month before graduating from Syracuse, Eagle auditioned for the Los Angeles Clippers' television play-by-play position but did not receive the job. The Clippers instead offered him their radio play-by-play role, which he began for the 2019-2020 season. He later left the Clippers in 2023 after joining the YES Network as an alternate television play-by-play announcer.

Eagle expanded his work across several networks. He called college football for CBS Sports in 2021 and Fox Sports in 2022, along with college basketball for Fox Sports and FS1. He also worked NBA events for Turner and NBA TV, major tennis events for the Tennis Channel, and special NFL broadcasts for Nickelodeon.

In 2021, Eagle called 3x3 basketball for NBC Sports' coverage of the Tokyo Summer Olympics. He and Nate Burleson called Nickelodeon's NFL broadcasts, including Super Bowl LVIII during the 2023 season. In December 2022, Eagle and Burleson called the Minnesota Vikings' 39-36 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts, in which Minnesota overcame a 33-point deficit, the largest comeback in NFL history.

Eagle joined NBC Sports in 2023 as the play-by-play voice of Big Ten Saturday Night and the network's Big Ten basketball package on Peacock. He has also called NFL games for NBC and Peacock, including the first NFL game played in Brazil, and became one of NBC Sports' NBA play-by-play voices.

His work has also included the 2024 French Open for NBC Sports and Peacock and a Netflix NFL Christmas Day broadcast. He worked alongside Todd Blackledge on NBC's 2023 Browns-Texans Wild Card game and on Peacock's 2024 Packers-Eagles game in Brazil.

In May 2024, Eagle won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air for his play-by-play work on the inaugural season of Big Ten Saturday Night on NBC and Peacock.

He was also part of NBCUniversal's award-winning coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which received the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Special, Championship Event. The awards marked a significant early recognition of his work as a national broadcaster.

Basketball was Eagle's favorite sport as a child, and he was 11 when he became especially captivated by his father's NBA broadcasting work. His interest in the sport later became a central part of his professional career, including assignments for college basketball, the NBA and the Olympics.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Eagle called Team USA men's and women's basketball. He worked with Dwyane Wade on the men's games and LaChina Robinson on the women's games, with both United States teams defeating France to win gold medals.

Eagle has connected his enthusiasm for Team USA basketball to watching the 2008 Olympic team known as the “Redeem Team.” He called the Paris assignment a dream come true.

Eagle's family background also includes live performance. His grandmother, Monica Maris, was an actress and singer who toured with live shows, including an impersonation of Judy Garland that ended with “Over the Rainbow.” His grandfather, Jack Eagle, was a comedian known for television commercials.

Ian Eagle sometimes performed impressions of Muhammad Ali and Howard Cosell with his parents. That early family experience helped make speaking before an audience feel familiar to Ian, who later became a model and mentor for Noah's broadcasting career.
