Ranboo

Ranboo grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in California and graduated from high school in June 2021. They later relocated to Brighton in the United Kingdom in 2022 before moving to Los Angeles, California. Ranboo is gay and identifies as non-binary, using they/them and he/him pronouns.

Throughout the early years of their streaming career, Ranboo adopted a distinct visual identity centered on maintaining personal privacy. On camera, they wore a two-tone black and white mask, dark sunglasses, and gloves. Ranboo explained that covering their face helped manage severe facial dysmorphia and allowed them to produce and edit video content comfortably. On November 26, 2021, Ranboo removed the sunglasses during a live broadcast, revealing their eyes to viewers for the first time, and subsequently phased out regular use of the glasses due to physical discomfort.

Ranboo created their main YouTube channel in January 2020 and published their first gameplay video in August of that year. Shortly after launching their Twitch channel in September 2020, they gained rapid traction following channel raids from established creators, including Punz, Ph1LzA, and Fundy.

In late November 2020, Ranboo was invited to join the Dream SMP Minecraft server. They developed an enderman-hybrid character known for memory loss and an erratic "enderwalk" state. The character's dramatic narrative arcs became a major draw for the community, with lore broadcasts frequently drawing more than 100,000 concurrent viewers. Alongside fellow creators TommyInnit and Tubbo, Ranboo formed a popular collaborative trio dubbed the "Benchtrio."

In February 2021, Ranboo organized a major charity subathon benefiting The Trevor Project, an American organization supporting LGBTQ+ youth. The ten-hour event generated over $100,000 in donations and pushed Ranboo's Twitch subscriber count past 100,000, making them one of the most-subscribed creators on the platform at that time. They hosted a second major charity broadcast in August 2021 for charity: water, raising approximately $325,000 over a sixteen-hour stream.

Ranboo also became a regular competitor in the Noxcrew-organized MC Championship tournaments, starting with MCC 15. Known for leaning into event themes, they coordinated real-life costumes with their in-game avatar colors, appearing on camera in brightly colored tailored suits, costumes, and styled wigs. To minimize physical discomfort during tournaments, Ranboo introduced a custom 3D VTuber avatar that mirrored their digital outfits.

As Ranboo's streaming career progressed, they broadened their content beyond Minecraft into variety entertainment, comedic cooking videos, and narrative productions. In 2022, they formed the collaborative gaming channel White Noise with streamer Sneegsnag and joined the creator comedy group The Sorry Boys.

In May 2023, Ranboo premiered Generation Loss: The Social Experiments, a three-part live interactive horror-comedy web series. Ranboo served as the writer, producer, and central actor, playing the role of The Hero. Blending live-action acting with audience-driven decision-making, the project marked a major creative transition into original scripted media.
