Sapnap

Nicholas Armstrong grew up in Houston, Texas, where he developed an interest in video games at an early age. He is of Greek descent and was raised in a household with two sisters, a stepbrother, and a Filipino stepmother. Before pursuing content creation full-time, he worked various jobs from age 16 and studied computer science at a Texas community college with the goal of becoming a software developer.

In January 2021, he relocated from Texas to Orlando, Florida, to move into a home with longtime friend and online collaborator Dream. In October 2022, they were joined by fellow creator GeorgeNotFound in a shared living space known among fans as the Dream Team House. Armstrong is also known for his affection for animals, keeping several pets including his cats Mogwai, Lily, Milo, and Naomi, as well as a dog named Cash.

Armstrong met Dream on the MCPVP server in 2013 when he was 12 years old, establishing an online friendship that predated their content careers. His original online handle was PandasCanPvP; when creating a new identity, Dream suggested reversing the word "pandas" to "Sadnap," which was modified to Sapnap after the initial name was already taken.

He posted his first YouTube video in October 2019, producing Minecraft challenges and plugin modifications. Alongside Dream and GeorgeNotFound, he formed the Dream Team in 2019, frequently participating as a hunter in Dream's viral Minecraft Manhunt series. His high-energy playstyle and competitive nature helped his main YouTube channel quickly amass millions of subscribers.

In April 2020, Armstrong became one of the founding members of the Dream SMP, an invite-only Minecraft survival multiplayer server that evolved into a major roleplay platform. On the server, his character was involved in central conflicts such as the Pet War and the defense against L'Manberg, establishing him as one of the storyline's primary combatants.

Expanding into digital media outside of gaming livestreams, Armstrong partnered with creator Karl Jacobs in September 2021 to launch the comedy podcast Banter. The debut episode, featuring MrBeast, briefly surpassed The Joe Rogan Experience as the top podcast on Spotify. GeorgeNotFound officially joined the show as a permanent co-host in August 2022.

Armstrong is widely regarded within the Minecraft community for his player-versus-player combat skills. He made his debut in the MC Championship (MCC) tournament series during MCC 7 in July 2020, eventually becoming the first player in the event's history to secure seven overall tournament victories, including back-to-back wins across consecutive events.

In March 2023, Armstrong competed in Squid Craft Games 2, a major tournament organized by Spanish-language Minecraft creators, where he took first place. His competitive pursuits expanded into organizational leadership in October 2022, when he signed on as a content creator and co-owner of NRG Esports. In August 2023, he expanded his broadcasting presence by beginning regular livestreams on the Kick platform.
