Candace Owens

Candace Owens has been married to British businessman George Farmer since August 31, 2019. They first met in 2018 through their work with Turning Point USA, when Owens was coordinating speaking events in London and Farmer worked with the organization's U.K. branch. Farmer proposed during a FaceTime call on December 29, 2018, and they married in a private ceremony on August 6, 2019, followed by a larger ceremony at Trump Winery in Charlottesville, Virginia, on August 31.

Owens and Farmer have four children. Their children were born between 2021 and 2025, including Louise Marie Farmer, Max, and Roman.

Owens was raised in Stamford, Connecticut, after being born in White Plains, New York. She was the third of four children and was raised by her grandparents after her parents divorced while she was in elementary school. At Stamford High School, she ran track and participated as a cheerleader.

When Owens was a 17-year-old high-school senior, she received three recorded telephone death threats. The harassment led to six weeks of homeschooling, and her family filed a lawsuit against the school district. She later struggled with an eating disorder connected in part to the trauma of the incident.

Owens attended the University of Rhode Island to study journalism and left after her junior year because of a student-loan problem. She later interned at Vogue and worked at a New York private-equity firm, progressing from administrative assistant to vice president of administration.

In 2015, Owens co-founded the marketing agency Degree180 with a coworker and wrote a blog covering generational issues and politics. The following year, she and others connected with Degree180 launched a campaign for Social Autopsy, a proposed website intended to help companies and individuals investigate online profiles and posts. The project drew privacy criticism, and Owens and members of her family were doxed and threatened.

The backlash surrounding Social Autopsy helped move Owens toward conservative politics. She found support from conservative participants in Gamergate and began posting videos with other Black conservatives under the name RedPillBlack. Her response to the deadly 2017 Charlottesville rally brought her greater attention among conservative commentators and attracted favorable notice from then-candidate Donald Trump.

In November 2017, Owens became director of urban engagement for Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit founded by Charlie Kirk. She later served as the organization's director of communications until 2019. In 2018, she founded the Blexit Foundation, which encouraged Black voters to reconsider their traditional support for Democratic candidates. Blexit later merged with Turning Point USA.

Owens hosted The Candace Owens Show on PragerU's YouTube channel before leaving the position in 2020. She joined The Daily Wire during the 2020 election cycle and began hosting the podcast Candace, also known as The Candace Owens Show, in 2021. She left The Daily Wire in 2024 after public disagreements concerning the Israel-Hamas War and other disputes.

Her first book, Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation, was published in 2020. The book argues that Black Americans should reconsider Democratic political affiliations and emphasizes Owens's views on race, identity, abortion, welfare, policing, and claims of white supremacy.

Owens has also appeared as herself in Uncle Tom, No Safe Spaces, The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM, and Convicting a Murderer. She appeared in Lady Ballers and voiced Deena in Mr. Birchum. She directed The Greatest Lie Ever Sold and Becoming Brigitte, and served as a creator and producer on Convicting a Murderer.
