David Dobrik

Dobrik has three younger siblings. His family moved from Košice, Slovakia, to Vernon Hills, Illinois, when he was six years old. He understands Hungarian and Slovak, although he has said that he does not speak or write either language fluently.

Dobrik dated fellow YouTube personality Liza Koshy from late 2015 to early 2018, and they announced their breakup in June 2018. On May 15, 2019, he legally married Lorraine Nash, the mother of Jason Nash, as part of a comedic vlog. The marriage ended after one month, and Dobrik announced in November 2019 that the divorce had been finalized.

Dobrik began posting six-second videos on Vine in 2013 and built an audience of more than one million followers on the platform. He collaborated with Viners including Liza Koshy, Gabbie Hanna, Jason Nash, and Zane Hijazi and Heath Hussar. Before launching his own channel, he was part of the collaborative YouTube group Second Class.

He launched his self-titled YouTube channel in 2015. His videos used rapid editing, musical transitions, pranks, inside jokes, challenges, animals, celebrities and recurring appearances by his friends. He created a second channel, David Dobrik Too, in 2016 for bloopers, challenges and sponsorship-related videos.

The shutdown of Vine in January 2017 pushed Dobrik's future work further toward YouTube. His channel passed 10 million subscribers in 2018, earning him a YouTube Diamond Play Button. In 2019, it was ranked the fifth-most-viewed creator channel on the platform after recording 2.4 billion views during the year.

Dobrik's videos feature the Vlog Squad, a rotating ensemble drawn from his wider circle of friends. Named members and frequent participants have included Jason Nash, Natalie Mariduena, Josh Peck, Zane Hijazi, Heath Hussar, Scotty Sire, Corinna Kopf, Matt King, Toddy Smith, Nick Antonyan, Joe Vulpis, Carly Incontro and Erin Gilfoy.

The group became a central part of the format rather than a fixed cast. The Verge compared the structure of Dobrik's vlog to a sitcom, noting its returning characters, musical transitions and compressed comedic scenes. His editing style carried Vine's quick-cut approach into YouTube vlogging and influenced other creators on the platform.

Dobrik and the Vlog Squad won the 2018 Shorty Award for YouTube Ensemble. The ensemble also won at the 2019 Streamy Awards, where Dobrik credited the group of friends who helped him make his videos.

Dobrik expanded into television and film during the late 2010s. He appeared as himself in programs including America's Most Musical Family, Chopped Junior, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and the 2019 Kids' Choice Sports Championship. He co-hosted the 2019 Teen Choice Awards with Lucy Hale and served as a judge on America's Most Musical Family alongside Ciara and Debbie Gibson.

He provided the voice of Axel in The Angry Birds Movie 2 and appeared in An Interrogation, FML and Airplane Mode. In 2020, he hosted the Discovery Channel reality competition series Dodgeball Thunderdome with Erin Lim and Andrew Hawkins as co-hosts.

His other hosting credits include Nickelodeon's The Stars of SpongeBob Fan Favorites Special. Discovery+ released the travel series Discovering David Dobrik in 2021, although only three episodes of the initially planned first season were aired and a second season was canceled.

Dobrik co-hosts VIEWS with David Dobrik & Jason Nash. The first episode was released on May 15, 2017, and the podcast debuted at number two on the iTunes podcast chart. Dobrik later created the Views Podcast YouTube channel to publish video versions of the program.

In January 2020, he launched the disposable-camera app Dispo. The app surpassed one million downloads and briefly reached the top of Apple's App Store free-app rankings. He also launched David's Perfume with Flower Shop Perfumes Co. in October 2020.

Dobrik used his online audience for a 2020 voter-registration partnership with HeadCount. The campaign registered more than 300,000 voters, with nearly 120,000 registrations counted through the organization's campaign connected to his giveaway. In November 2022, he opened Doughbrik's Pizza in Los Angeles and later discussed developing a reality program about the restaurant's employees.

Dobrik won the 2017 Shorty Award for Vlogger of the Year and the 2017 Streamy Award for Breakout Creator. He won the 2018 Streamy Award for First Person and received additional recognition for the Vlog Squad and the VIEWS podcast.

His later honors included the 2019 Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Social Star, the 2019 Teen Choice Award for Choice Male Web Star and the 2019 People's Choice Award for Social Star. He won the 2020 Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Male Social Star and was included in the 2021 Forbes 30 Under 30 social media list.
