Jadiann Thompson

Thompson joined WHDH 7News in Boston in June 2015 as a weekend evening anchor and weekday reporter. She later moved into weekday anchoring and helped launch the station's 9 p.m. newscast in 2017. The program quickly became one of Boston's highest-rated newscasts, according to WHDH vice president of news Linda Miele.

For nine years, Thompson anchored WHDH weekday newscasts at 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 9 p.m. She typically appeared alongside co-anchor Ryan Schulteis. Beginning January 1, 2026, she became the station's main anchor for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts, joining Adam Williams in the later evening time slots.

Thompson began her television news career at KTWO-TV in Casper, Wyoming, after graduating from the University of Arkansas in 2007. She worked as a multimedia journalist before becoming the station's main anchor and executive producer within a year. She also served as assistant news director and anchored the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts.

She later worked at KPHO-TV in Phoenix as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor. Before moving into a larger television market, she spent time in Madrid teaching English as a second language at a trilingual school and in specialized after-school programs. Thompson then joined KSHB-TV, an NBC affiliate in Kansas City, where she anchored the weekday 6 p.m. newscast while reporting, writing, shooting, and editing stories.

Thompson's reporting has covered the Jodi Arias trial, immigration reform debates, law-enforcement issues, and major natural disasters. In Arizona, she spent nearly two weeks covering the Wallow Fire, identified in the biography as the largest wildfire in the state's history.

She won her first Emmy Award for an investigative report about Wi-Fi hacking. Her work in Kansas City brought two additional Emmy Awards, including recognition as the region's Best Anchor and an award for reporting on proposed changes to in-flight cellphone regulations. She has been described as a five-time Emmy Award winner and has also supported ALS research and funding through volunteer work with organizations seeking a cure.
