Shannon Bream

Bream married Sheldon Bream on December 30, 1995, having met while they were both students in college. Sheldon runs Bream Speaker Management, an agency representing public speakers, and is a survivor of a benign brain tumor diagnosed in his twenties. The couple does not have children.

Bream has spoken openly about living with Map-Dot-Fingerprint Dystrophy, a chronic corneal condition that caused severe eye pain and sleep disruptions before she underwent corrective surgery. A devout Christian and classical pianist, she frequently credits her faith with providing stability during challenging personal and professional moments.

Bream attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, graduating magna cum laude in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in business management. While studying at Liberty, she won the Miss Virginia pageant in 1990 and placed in the top 10 at the Miss America 1991 competition, using the resulting scholarship funds to pay for her undergraduate studies.

She continued her education at the Florida State University College of Law, earning her Juris Doctor with honors in 1996. During her legal studies, she won the Miss Florida USA title in 1995 and finished fourth at the Miss USA 1995 pageant, which provided scholarships that financed her law degree. While in law school, she also interned for U.S. Representative Bill McCollum.

Following law school, Bream moved to Tampa, Florida, to practice corporate law, concentrating on race discrimination and sexual harassment cases. Seeking a transition to television journalism, she enrolled in news writing courses at the University of South Florida and secured an unpaid internship at WFTS, an ABC affiliate in Tampa. She balanced entry-level duties such as answering phones, writing morning copy, and running teleprompters alongside her legal practice before leaving the law firm to pursue broadcasting full-time.

In 2001, Bream moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, joining CBS affiliate WBTV as an evening and late-night reporter. She remained with WBTV for three years before relocating to Washington, D.C., in 2004 to work as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for NBC affiliate WRC-TV.

Bream joined Fox News in November 2007 at its Washington bureau after meeting managing editor Brit Hume, who encouraged her to submit an audition tape. Appointed chief legal correspondent, she has covered numerous landmark legal rulings, including Supreme Court decisions on the Defense of Marriage Act, the Affordable Care Act, and the overturning of Roe v. Wade. In 2017, she became the founding host of Fox News @ Night, leading the program until September 2022, when she was named anchor of Fox News Sunday.

Bream helped inaugurate the Fox News Books publishing imprint and has authored several volumes, including Finding the Bright Side: The Art of Chasing What Matters (2019), The Women of the Bible Speak: The Wisdom of 16 Women and Their Lessons for Today (2021), The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak (2022), and Nothing Is Impossible with God (2026). Multiple titles reached the top spot on The New York Times Best Seller list. She also hosts the Fox News Radio podcast Livin' the Bream.
