Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was married to actress Anya Longwell from 1992 to 2003. He was briefly engaged to his former Weeds co-star Mary-Louise Parker in 2007, but the engagement ended in 2008.

Morgan has been married to actress Hilarie Burton since October 2019. They have two children, a son named Augustus, known as Gus, and a daughter named George Virginia. Morgan and Burton began their relationship in 2009 after being introduced on a blind date through Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles.

Morgan grew up in Kirkland, Washington, and attended Ben Franklin Elementary School and Rose Hill Junior High. He graduated from Lake Washington High School in 1984, where he captained the basketball team. He briefly attended Skagit Valley College while pursuing basketball, but a leg injury ended his hopes of becoming a professional player.

After leaving college, Morgan focused on painting and writing. While living in Seattle, he sold paintings and completed early acting roles in Uncaged and To Cross the Rubicon, the latter with his roommate, actor Billy Burke. He later moved to Los Angeles while helping a friend relocate from Seattle and decided to remain there to pursue acting.

Morgan's first major television role came in the science-fiction series The Burning Zone, in which he played Dr. Edward Marcase during the 1996-1997 season. His television work expanded in the mid-2000s, when he appeared simultaneously as John Winchester in Supernatural, Denny Duquette in Grey's Anatomy, and Judah Botwin in Weeds.

His performance as Denny Duquette, a heart transplant patient in Grey's Anatomy, made him a fan favorite. He later played Jason Crouse in The Good Wife, Ike Evans in Magic City, and Deaf Smith in the miniseries Texas Rising.

Morgan began playing Negan in The Walking Dead in 2016. The character first appeared in the sixth-season finale, served as a primary antagonist in the seventh and eighth seasons, and later developed into an antihero. Morgan reprised the role in The Walking Dead: Dead City, for which he also serves as an executive producer. He also played Joe Kessler in The Boys and voiced Conquest and other characters in Invincible.

Morgan's film credits include William Gallagher in P.S. I Love You, Clay in The Losers, and the Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, in Zack Snyder's Watchmen. He also appeared in Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock, the romantic comedy The Accidental Husband, and the action film Red Dawn.

He played detectives and other dramatic characters in films including Texas Killing Fields, The Resident, Solace, Desierto, and The Postcard Killings. His later film roles included Agent Harvey Russell in Rampage, James Conner in Fall, and Gerry Fenn in The Unholy. He was also an executive producer on The Courier and The Postcard Killings, and a producer on Bloody Axe Wound.

Morgan won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series in 2016 for his television work. He also received Saturn Awards, a Chainsaw Award, an MTV Movie and TV Award for Best Villain, and a CinEuphoria honorary award.

In 2014, Morgan and Hilarie Burton became co-owners of Samuel's Sweet Shop in Rhinebeck, New York, alongside actor Paul Rudd. They helped save the candy store from closing after its previous owner died. Morgan also hosted the reality competition series Destination X and drove the pace car at the 101st Indianapolis 500 in 2017.
