Jordan Poole

Poole is the son of Monet and Anthony Poole. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, alongside an older sister, who later attended Marquette University, and a younger sister.

Outside of basketball, Poole is an avid animal lover who regularly volunteers at animal shelters and is particularly fond of cats.

Poole began his prep basketball career at Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, where he played under coach Jim Gosz and earned WBCA All-State honours. For his senior season, he transferred to La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana. Playing alongside future NBA forward Jaren Jackson Jr, Poole helped lead La Lumiere to the 2017 Dick's National High School Championship title, scoring 13 points in the final against Montverde Academy.

He committed to the University of Michigan to play under head coach John Beilein. During his freshman season in 2017-18, Poole played a key role in Michigan winning the Big Ten tournament championship. In the second round of the 2018 NCAA tournament, he hit a game-winning buzzer-beater three-pointer to defeat the Houston Cougars 64-63, propelling Michigan to an eventual national championship game appearance. As a sophomore in 2018-19, he started all 37 games, led the Wolverines with 75 three-pointers, and earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honours before declaring for the NBA draft.

Selected 28th overall by the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft, Poole initially spent time developing with the team's NBA G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors. During his second season, he earned All-NBA G League Third Team honors before securing a permanent spot in Golden State's rotation.

Poole experienced a breakout season in 2021-22. With Klay Thompson recovering from injuries, Poole stepped into the starting lineup and later operated as part of a three-guard rotation alongside Stephen Curry and Thompson. He finished the regular season leading the entire NBA in free-throw percentage at 92.5%, edging out Curry (92.3%) and closing the year with 28 consecutive made free throws. Poole contributed substantially to the Warriors' playoff run, averaging 17.0 points per game as Golden State defeated the Boston Celtics to win the 2022 NBA Finals.

Ahead of the 2022-23 season, Poole signed a four-year contract extension with the Warriors. However, the season was shadowed by an October 2022 training incident in which teammate Draymond Green struck Poole during practice. Despite the internal friction, Poole appeared in all 82 regular-season games, averaging a career-high 20.4 points per contest.

In July 2023, the Warriors traded Poole, Patrick Baldwin Jr, and Ryan Rollins to the Washington Wizards in a deal that sent Chris Paul to Golden State. In his second year in Washington, Poole transitioned to point guard and set a new Wizards single-season franchise record with 235 made three-pointers during the 2024-25 season, breaking the previous mark held by Bradley Beal.

In July 2025, Poole was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans as part of a three-team transaction involving the Houston Rockets. After making his debut in October 2025, Poole dealt with injuries, including a quad strain, before concluding the season with New Orleans.
