Stephen Curry

Curry married Ayesha Alexander, later known as Ayesha Curry, in 2011. Ayesha Curry is an entrepreneur and former actor who appeared in the television series Ballers and hosted Ayesha's Home Kitchen.

The couple have four children: daughters Riley and Ryan, born in 2012 and 2015, and sons Canon and Caius, born in 2018 and 2024.

Curry grew up in a basketball family as the son of Dell Curry, a 16-year NBA player, and Sonya Curry, a former Virginia Tech volleyball player. His younger brother, Seth Curry, later reached the NBA, while his sister, Sydel Curry, played volleyball at Elon University. Curry spent much of his childhood in North Carolina while his father played for the Charlotte Hornets, and also played basketball in Toronto during eighth grade after the family briefly relocated to Canada.

Although major college programs were cautious about his slender frame, Curry enrolled at Davidson College. He averaged 21.5 points per game as a freshman and became a national star during his sophomore season, leading the 10th-seeded Wildcats to the NCAA tournament's Elite Eight. His performances included 40 points against Gonzaga and 30 points against Georgetown.

Curry led the country with 28.6 points per game as a junior in 2008-09 and was named a consensus first-team All-American. Davidson's records list him as the school's career leader in three-pointers, with 284, and as its seventh-leading scorer with 1,661 points. The Golden State Warriors selected him seventh overall in the 2009 NBA draft.

Curry became the Warriors' starting point guard and made an immediate impact, earning a place on the NBA All-Rookie First Team after making a rookie-record 166 three-pointers. Ankle injuries limited him during the 2011-12 season, but he returned to lead the NBA with 272 three-pointers in 2012-13. His partnership with teammate Klay Thompson became known as the "Splash Brothers" duo.

Curry won his first NBA championship in 2015, when Golden State defeated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals. He was also named the NBA's Most Valuable Player. During the 2015-16 season, Curry led the Warriors to a 73-9 record, the best regular-season record in NBA history, while making an NBA-record 402 three-pointers and averaging 30.1 points per game. He became the first player to win the MVP award by unanimous vote.

The Warriors defeated the Cavaliers in the 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals, giving Curry three championships in four seasons. Golden State returned to the Finals in 2019 but lost to the Toronto Raptors. After injuries affected both Curry and the team, the Warriors returned to the top in 2022 by defeating the Boston Celtics. Curry averaged 31.2 points in the six-game Finals and won his first NBA Finals MVP award.

Curry scored 62 points in a 2020-21 regular-season game and broke the NBA career record for three-pointers when he made his 2,974th in December 2021. In 2025, he became the first player in league history to make 4,000 career three-pointers.

Curry helped the United States win gold at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2014 FIBA World Cup. He made his Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Games, where the United States defeated France 98-87 in the gold-medal game. Curry scored 24 points in the final, including four three-pointers late in the fourth quarter.

In the semifinal against Serbia, Curry scored 36 points, the highest-scoring performance by an American men's basketball player in Olympic competition. He also made nine three-pointers, the most by a player in an Olympic elimination game for the United States.

Curry has supported the United Nations Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign, which distributes insecticide-treated mosquito nets in areas affected by malaria. With Ayesha Curry, he launched the Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation in 2019 to support children's access to food, education, and safe places to play. In 2024, the World Golf Hall of Fame presented Curry with the Charlie Sifford Award for contributions to diversity in golf.
