Kevin Durant

Durant has never married and has no children. He was engaged to WNBA player and coach Monica Wright in 2013, but the couple broke up soon afterward.

He was raised by his mother, Wanda Durant, and his grandmother, Barbara Davis. His father, Wayne Pratt, left the family when Durant was young, and Durant has an older brother, Tony, as well as half-siblings Brianna and Rayvonne.

Durant played youth basketball for the PG Jaguars, an Amateur Athletic Union team in Prince George's County, Maryland. The team won two national championships during his tenure. He wears No. 35 in honor of Charles Craig, his AAU coach and childhood mentor, who died at age 35.

Durant played high school basketball at National Christian Academy, Montrose Christian School, and Oak Hill Academy. He was named to the Parade and USA Today first-team All-American selections after his senior season. He then played one season for the Texas Longhorns, averaging 25.8 points and 11 rebounds per game in 35 games. Durant won the Oscar Robertson and Adolph F. Rupp awards, becoming the first freshman to receive both honors.

The Seattle SuperSonics selected Durant second overall in the 2007 NBA draft. He averaged more than 20 points per game as a rookie and won the NBA Rookie of the Year award. After the franchise relocated, he became the leading figure of the Oklahoma City Thunder, winning four scoring titles and the 2014 league MVP award.

Durant reached the 2012 NBA Finals with Oklahoma City alongside Russell Westbrook and James Harden. The Thunder lost the series to LeBron James and the Miami Heat. Durant later joined the Golden State Warriors, where he played with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

With Golden State, Durant won the 2017 and 2018 NBA championships and earned Finals MVP honors in both series. He scored 39 points in the 2017 Finals-clinching game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. During the 2019 NBA Finals, Durant ruptured his Achilles tendon and missed the entire 2019-20 season.

Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019, moved to the Phoenix Suns in a 2023 trade, and was traded by Phoenix to the Houston Rockets in June 2025. He became the fifth NBA franchise of his career with Houston.

Durant made his first Olympic appearance at the 2012 London Games, where the United States won the gold medal. He also helped Team USA win gold at the 2016 Rio Games, the 2020 Tokyo Games, and the 2024 Paris Games.

His four Olympic basketball gold medals are a men's record. Durant also holds the United States Olympic scoring record and was named the 2010 FIBA World Championship Most Valuable Player.

Durant became one of eight NBA players to surpass 30,000 regular-season career points. He has also ranked among the league's leading players in free throws made and three-point field goals.

His major honors include NBA Rookie of the Year, the 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player award, two Finals MVP awards, four scoring titles, and college Player of the Year awards from the Associated Press and NABC. He was also named the 2007 Wooden Award and Naismith Award winner.
