Lengyel was born in Laval, Quebec, and is of Hungarian descent. He has a brother named Nick and is bilingual, speaking French and English. During his esports and streaming career, he lived in Texas and Los Angeles before returning to Canada due to security concerns stemming from repeated swatting incidents.

From 2017 to 2022, Lengyel was in a relationship with fellow streamer Samantha Lopez, known online as adeptthebest. Following their separation, Lopez initiated legal proceedings claiming a common-law marriage and filed an assault complaint, both of which concluded in Lengyel's favor in late 2023. He has also dated streamer NYYXXII and has been in a relationship with Aikobliss since 2024.

Lengyel entered competitive gaming in the mid-2010s, adopting the screen name xQc by pairing the final letter of his first name with QC, the abbreviation for Quebec. He initially competed as a main tank player in Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch, playing for DatZit Gaming before signing with Denial Esports in October 2016. After Denial disbanded, he co-founded the independent team Yikes, which later competed under the name Arc 6 in Overwatch Contenders. In late 2017, he represented Team Canada in the Overwatch World Cup, reaching the tournament final against South Korea and receiving the event's Most Valuable Player award.

In October 2017, Lengyel joined the Dallas Fuel for the inaugural season of the Overwatch League. His stint with the team included multiple league disciplinary actions, culminating in fines and match suspensions for violations of conduct policies during streams and on social media. Dallas Fuel released him from his contract in March 2018. Lengyel later played in Overwatch Contenders for GOATS and Gladiators Legion, and returned to represent Team Canada at the 2018 and 2019 Overwatch World Cups.

Following his exit from the Overwatch League, Lengyel dedicated his schedule to full-time live streaming on Twitch, maintaining daily broadcasts that often spanned ten or more hours. He signed as a content creator with Sentinels in 2019, departing the group in August 2020 before signing with Luminosity Gaming later that year. His broadcast audience expanded rapidly, making him the most-watched channel on Twitch worldwide across 2020, 2021, and 2022.

His content diversified beyond competitive shooters into variety gaming, chess, and interactive events. In 2020, he participated in the PogChamps chess tournament after receiving coaching from grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura. In April 2022, his participation in Reddit's collaborative canvas project r/place drove his concurrent viewership to a peak of more than 293,000, which he surpassed later that month by reaching over 312,000 concurrent viewers during an Overwatch 2 beta broadcast.

In June 2023, Lengyel signed a two-year, non-exclusive broadcasting contract with the streaming service Kick. The agreement was valued at $70 million with performance-based bonuses capable of raising the total valuation to approximately $100 million, while allowing him to continue producing content across multiple digital channels.

His live streams are adapted into highlights and reaction videos on an official YouTube channel managed by video editors. His career in digital entertainment has earned multiple industry honors, including the Just Chatting trophy at the 12th Streamy Awards in 2022 and Best Variety Streamer at the 2023 Streamer Awards.
