Firerose married country musician Billy Ray Cyrus on October 10, 2023, following an engagement in August 2022. The two had originally met around 2010 on the set of the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana and remained friends for years before beginning a relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cyrus filed for divorce in May 2024, and the marriage was officially dissolved in August 2024.

Firerose celebrated seven years of sobriety in May 2023, sharing messages encouraging others dealing with addiction. On July 18, 2024, after residing in the United States for 17 years, she became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Firerose was raised in a family of symphony musicians. Her grandmother gave her the childhood nickname Firerose, which she eventually adopted as her legal name. She pursued formal training in creative arts at the Newtown School for the Performing Arts in Sydney.

At age 19, she moved from Sydney to Los Angeles to develop her career as a songwriter and performer. She has cited diverse influences on her musical style, including Australian rock groups such as INXS, Silverchair, and Powderfinger, along with singer-songwriters Alanis Morissette and Sia.

Firerose began releasing music commercially in 2019, debuting with the single "Fragile Handling." She followed with independent releases including "Way Out" and "All Figured Out."

Her profile expanded in July 2021 when she released the duet "New Day" with Billy Ray Cyrus, a track she wrote to navigate personal hardship. The duo continued releasing collaborative music, including the single "Time" in November 2022, a holiday cover of "Silent Night" in December 2022, and the single "Plans" in August 2023.
