Tucker Wetmore

Wetmore grew up in Kalama, Washington, and graduated from Kalama High School in 2018. He was a standout multi-sport athlete who earned four state championships during his senior year. As a football player, he was selected first-team All-Conference and All-State at wide receiver, named All-League Offensive MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, and also received recognition as a defensive back and punter.

At age 11, Wetmore taught himself to play piano, inspired by Jerry Lee Lewis. He later played football at Montana Technological University in Butte, where he studied business and information technology. During his freshman year, he broke his leg in three places during a practice play, ending his hopes of pursuing football professionally.

After his injury, Wetmore returned to Kalama and began writing songs again. His mother, Sia, encouraged him to sit at the piano or pick up his guitar, recalling that music had once been a form of therapy for him. He wrote his first song after the injury and soon decided to pursue music instead of returning to football.

Wetmore moved to Nashville in 2020 and released the promotional singles "Kiss My A$$," "Another Shot" and "She's Trouble" in 2021. His songs draw on country storytelling while incorporating baritone vocals, singalong hooks and influences from outside the genre. He has described music as a way to process emotions and connect with listeners who may have faced similar experiences.

Wetmore's commercial breakthrough came with "Wine Into Whiskey," which gained attention after he posted a clip on TikTok. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024 and became his first charting single there and on Hot Country Songs. "Wind Up Missin' You" followed as his country radio debut and became his first No. 1 hit on country radio.

Wetmore signed with Back Blocks Music in 2023 and later entered a partnership with UMG Nashville. His debut EP, Waves on a Sunset, arrived in 2024 and included songs such as "Silverado Blue" and "What Would You Do?" The project led to his debut album, What Not To, released on April 25, 2025.

The 19-song album includes "3,2,1," "Brunette," "Give Her the World" and the personal title track. What Not To reached No. 4 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and No. 15 on the Billboard 200. Three of its singles, "Wind Up Missin' You," "3,2,1" and "Brunette," reached the top three on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

Wetmore appeared twice on the soundtrack to Twisters in 2024. He contributed "Already Had It" and was featured on Conner Smith's "Steal My Thunder." The soundtrack reached No. 3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and No. 7 on the Billboard 200.

His early touring included an opening slot on Kameron Marlowe's Strangers Tour, followed by appearances connected to Luke Bryan's FARM TOUR. He has also opened tours for Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Jordan Davis. Wetmore performed at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time in 2024 and later launched his own Waves on a Sunset Tour and Brunette World Tour.

Wetmore was named the Academy of Country Music Awards' New Male Artist of the Year. He also received a nomination for Breakthrough Country Artist at the American Music Awards, while What Not To was nominated for Best Country Album.

His rise was accompanied by a growing online audience and strong streaming activity. "Wine Into Whiskey" and "Wind Up Missin' You" established him as a major new country act, while the response to What Not To gave him a larger platform for songs about personal experiences, relationships and self-discovery.
