Jesús Ortiz-Paz

Ortiz-Paz co-founded Fuerza Regida in San Bernardino, California, in 2015, when he was 18. He formed the group with José "Pelón" García, Samuel Jaimez, and Khrystian Ramos. The band initially performed cover songs at local flyer parties before developing original material and building a following.

Ortiz-Paz became the group’s lead vocalist, while García played tuba, Jaimez played requinto guitar and sang backing vocals, and Ramos played six-string rhythm guitar. In 2017, Fuerza Regida launched its official YouTube channel. The original song "Radicamos en South Central," uploaded to Ortiz-Paz’s personal channel, went viral and attracted the attention of Ramón Ruiz of the norteño group Legado 7, who helped the band secure its first record deal.

Fuerza Regida released its debut album, En Vivo Puros Corridos, in 2018. The group drew attention for combining traditional Mexican sounds with rap and other urban influences. Ortiz-Paz has connected that approach to his Mexican-American upbringing and his interest in artists including Drake and Lil Baby, while maintaining Mexican language and cultural themes in the music.

His influences also include Mexican singers Joan Sebastian, Luis Miguel, and Vicente Fernández, whose music he heard through his parents’ record collection. In hip-hop and drill, he has cited Pop Smoke and Central Cee, with the latter style influencing songs such as "Freestyle." The group continued experimenting, including on the 2024 album Pero No Te Enamores, which incorporated Jersey club rhythms and dance-oriented production.

Fuerza Regida’s second album, Del Barrio Hasta Aqui, entered the Regional Mexican Albums chart at number one in 2019. The band also became associated with the song "Sigo Chambeando," released in 2018, and later collaborated with DJ Marshmello on the 2023 song "Harley Quinn."

Fuerza Regida’s ninth studio album, 111XPANTIA, was released on May 2, 2025. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting Spanish-language album by a duo or group and the highest-charting regional Mexican album in the chart’s history.

The album’s songs "Tu Sancho" and "Marlboro Rojo" reached the Mexican Billboard chart, with "Marlboro Rojo" also reaching number one on the Hot Latin Songs chart. The release marked Fuerza Regida’s television debut through appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Ortiz-Paz has also expanded his role beyond performing by founding Street Mob Records, where he serves as owner and chief executive. Fuerza Regida has received two Billboard Music Awards and six Billboard Latin Music Awards, and earned a 2025 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Regional Mexican Song for its collaboration with Grupo Frontera, "Me Jalo."
