JJ Redick

JJ Redick married Chelsea Kilgore in 2010. They have two sons, Knox and Kai.

Redick is the son of Ken and Jeanie Redick. His older twin sisters, Alyssa and Catie, played college basketball at Campbell, while his younger sister Abigail played at Virginia Tech and Drexel. His brother David played football at Marshall before an injury ended his playing career.

Redick played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils from 2002 to 2006. He became one of the program's leading scorers and was known for his long-range shooting and free-throw accuracy. In 2005 and 2006, he was named ACC Player of the Year and won major national honors including the Naismith College Player of the Year award, the Wooden Award and the Associated Press Player of the Year award.

Redick finished his Duke career with 2,769 points, then the school's all-time scoring record, and 457 made three-pointers. He also set an ACC record by making 54 consecutive free throws. Duke retired his No. 4 jersey in 2007, making him the 13th player honored by the program.

The Orlando Magic selected Redick 11th overall in the 2006 NBA draft. He spent his first seven seasons in Orlando before playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks. He became a full-time starter with the Clippers and developed into one of the NBA's most reliable perimeter shooters.

Redick scored a career-high 40 points for the Clippers against the Houston Rockets in 2016, making nine three-pointers. With Philadelphia, he reached 10,000 career points in 2018 and set the franchise's single-season record with 240 three-pointers in 2018-19. He retired from playing basketball on September 21, 2021, after 15 NBA seasons, finishing with 12,028 regular-season points.

Redick launched a weekly podcast in 2016 while he was still an active NBA player. The show moved from Yahoo! Sports to Uninterrupted and then to The Ringer, where he worked with producer and writer Tommy Alter.

In 2020, Redick and Alter co-founded ThreeFourTwo Productions and launched The Old Man and the Three. In 2024, Redick and LeBron James launched Mind the Game, a basketball podcast co-produced by ThreeFourTwo Productions and Uninterrupted. After retiring as a player, Redick also joined ESPN as an NBA analyst and later worked on the network's lead NBA broadcast team.

The Los Angeles Lakers appointed Redick as their head coach in 2024. The position marked his first NBA coaching job, following his transition from playing and broadcasting. His coaching debut came in a Lakers season-opening victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Before taking the Lakers job, Redick had volunteered as head coach of a fourth-grade boys' team at Brooklyn Basketball Academy. His son played on that team. Redick later led the Lakers to a 50-win regular season in his first campaign as an NBA head coach.
